Crypto payout assets and the full launch lifecycle

Why ZCAT ran, whether other crypto payouts worked, which assets could do it next, and what happens after day 3: the phases, the second leg without a Binance spot listing, and how to bring in partners and big accounts cleanly.

Short answer

+72%ZEC in the 14 days before ZCAT launched; +47% in its run week
10 of 13crypto-paid memes that reached $10M launched while the asset was running
0official endorsements found from Zcash, CZ, Justin Sun, Hyperliquid or NEAR
Day 6median peak day of 49 runners; true second legs came on days 10, 22, 39
  1. Why ZCAT ran: ZCAT was a leveraged, dividend-paying bet on ZEC, launched in the middle of ZEC's own ETF-driven rally. ZEC rose 72% in the 14 days before launch and 47% during ZCAT's run week. Three of ZCAT's four explosive days were ZEC's biggest days (A). The rally and the ZEC payout were both necessary. Ansem helped the $50M to $174M leg. Nobody on the Zcash side ever posted about it (A on absence).
  2. ZCAT was not first. $REDACTED paid in ZEC from 08-06 and peaked at $5.5M. It woke up on ZEC's +47% day (08-22), and ZCAT took the category from it within 48 hours (A).
  3. Other crypto payouts: we found 75 tokens paying in or paired with ZEC, BTC, HYPE, NEAR, RAY, TAO, XMR, ETH, SOL, DOGE, TRX, ASTER, JUP and TRUMP. Only ZCAT passed $50M. Twelve more passed $10M, and most are now down 70% to 99% (A).
  4. The rule: the payout asset must be in its own run at launch, and the token must be the first good mascot in that asset. 10 of the 13 crypto-paid memes that reached $10M launched while the asset was running (A). A strong community alone did nothing: DOGE and TRX produced no $2M token (A). No project or foundation endorsed any of these tokens, and none needed to.
  5. Top 3 payout candidates now: XMR, XRP, DOGE, but not today. None of them is running this week, so launching now breaks the rule. Prepare a kit for each and launch within 24 to 48 hours of a measured trigger (Part A.4). ZEC and NEAR are taken (ZCAT, MASK, NEARKAT). QNT is running hardest but cannot be routed on any payout venue (A).
  6. The lifecycle in one line: set the hook and supply before launch, win the first 10 minutes with real named buyers, sit through a flat 1 to 5 days, meet the outside catalyst when it comes, then amplify proof with labelled KOLs and clips, and fire a second leg you scheduled in advance, between days 7 and 30.
  7. Your model, corrected: days 1 to 2 were flat or falling for most winners, not a working machine. What looked like a second leg on days 1 to 3 was really the first leg, and it came from outside. KOLs arrived at the top (A).
  8. Top 3 second legs besides Binance spot: (1) the Binance Wallet, Alpha and Futures ladder, which has no published fee and must be earned by fitting the category (BNB only); (2) a public payout event on a date we set (PAID +413% in 8 hours); (3) trend posts written in advance (牛来's post woke it after 17 dead hours).
  9. Paid tier-2 exchange listings are reachable but mostly unnecessary. Runners got MEXC, Gate and LBank free after they ran. Listing agents quote $60K to $325K plus tokens (C).
  10. For partners and big accounts: pay only with consent, on-chain, in public, to a community or treasury rather than a person's bag. Label anything paid. Never pay in tokens. Every attention leg we measured gave back most of its lift within 1 to 2 weeks unless a mechanic or an exchange listing held it up (A).

Part A: crypto payout assets

A.1 Why did ZCAT run? (Q1)

ZCAT (Solana, StonkFun, launched 2026-08-30 23:29Z): a 3% transfer tax converted to ZEC and airdropped to holders. It went from $0.08M to a $174.7M peak on day 7 with no X account, website or Telegram. It is about $50M to $58M now (runners/timelines/ZCAT.md, A).

ZEC was in a real run, and ZCAT moved with it day by day (CoinGecko daily, A):

window ZEC what else happened
14 days before launch (08-17 to 08-31) +72% ($486 to $836) 08-22 +47% day on Grayscale ETF news and talks of a DCG 200K ZEC contribution; 08-25 Grayscale ZCSH lists as an ETF (B, CoinDesk, Grayscale)
last 7 days before launch -2% (holding the gain)
ZCAT run week (08-31 to 09-07) +47% ($836 to $1,227) 09-04 $1,000 break, $34.5M of shorts liquidated (B, CoinDesk)
now about $1,400 to $1,480, rank 9, +224% since Aug 1 NU7 upgrade: testnet Oct 6, mainnet Nov 5; Zcon7 Oct 27 to 29 (B/A)

Daily returns, ZCAT vs ZEC, 08-31 to 09-28: correlation 0.50, beta 6.8. On days ZEC rose more than 5%, ZCAT's median day was +26%; on other days it was -8%. Run days: 09-03 ZCAT +500% while ZEC was +17%; 09-04 +110% vs +7%; 09-06 +276% vs +20% (A, ZCAT/ZEC pool candles).

Each cause, separated:

cause role grade evidence
ZEC's own rally and ETF narrative Necessary A $REDACTED sat dead at about $20K until ZEC's +47% day, then ran to $5.5M. ZCAT's big days lined up with ZEC's big days
ZEC pair plus automatic 3% payout in ZEC Necessary (the vehicle) A This turned ZEC demand into a cat. Callers posted the airdrops ("Basically prints $zec", ZEC "actually arriving" on 09-01), not the cat
Timing and meme vs $REDACTED Helped a lot A ZCAT was the second ZEC coin. It launched the evening $REDACTED peaked, and took the category from it within 48 hours ($REDACTED went $3.28M to $0.57M). Later copies failed: ZDOG peaked at $6.3M and is at $0.17M now
Ansem (@blknoiz06, 1.43M followers) Helped the $50M to $174M leg A timing, B cause ZCAT broke out of $24M to $28M at 23:45Z on 09-05. His "zolana needs a runner" (513K views) came 10 minutes later. At the top he posted "1k zcash in zividends"
Privacy-coin rotation Helped A Run week: DASH +71%, XMR +11%, BTC +3%, SOL +5%
StonkFun's feed and account Not a factor before 09-05; amplified after A/B StonkFun earned $20K to $87K a day in fees before the run, then $1.51M on 09-06, about $1.05M of it from ZCAT's tax (estimate). @LaunchOnSF's first ZCAT post came at about $60M to $80M
Authorities revoked, 0% dev Helped a little A Good hygiene, but MASK reached $31M with StonkFun still holding its fee authority
ZCAT's own buying of ZEC No effect on ZEC A/estimate ZCAT's pool traded 0.83% of ZEC's volume in the run week, and that counts both directions. It pulled about 9,000 ZEC off the market, roughly 0.05% of supply. That mattered to the ZEC bridged to Solana ($8.65M liquidity), not to ZEC itself. The cause ran from ZEC to ZCAT
Zcash community / official link Not involved A on absence No ZCAT post from @zooko, @Zcash, @ZcashFoundation, @ElectricCoinCo, @ZecHub, @shieldedlabs, @mert, @CryptoHayes or @naval, and no distancing either. @mert was loudly bullish on ZEC ("next stop: 10k", 09-04) but never posted ZCAT. There was no affiliation

Swipe the table sideways to see all columns.

Verdict: ZCAT needed two things: ZEC's rally and a pool that paid out in ZEC. Everything else only helped. The Zcash community drove the ZEC story but never touched the token. Solana memecoin traders bought the token as a way to hold ZEC. Ansem's framing on 09-07: "degens are going to buy degenerate assets and are going to become zec holders in the process" (B).

A.2 Other crypto payout and crypto pair tokens (Q2)

Full list: lifecycle/data/crypto-payout-tokens.csv, 75 rows. Columns: ticker, chain, venue, asset, launch, peak, now, whether the asset was trending, the evidence, source, grade and mode. Peak is the best daily close times supply, counted only on days with at least $20K of volume, to exclude fake prints. "Trending" means the asset rose more than 15% in the 7 days before launch or more than 40% in the 30 days before. Sources: The Stonk Board, CoinGecko pools listed by quote asset, and on-chain reads of Flap tokens (A/B).

The biggest, per asset (A unless marked):

Hit rates by asset (A; the pool census covers pools created since 2026-07-01, capped at 200 per asset, so failures are undercounted and these rates are an upper bound):

asset pools in census reached $1M reached $10M first token in the asset, and how it did
ZEC 88 Solana, 95 BNB 10 3 $REDACTED (08-06) peaked at $3.3M; ZCAT came second and won

NEAR 6 1 1 NEARKAT stayed the leader

TRX 19 0 0 none

One correction to MECHANISMS.md: its "BNC4" quote asset is Cea Industries, a tokenized stock of a company that holds BNB, not a crypto asset (on-chain name(), A). The only two "other token" winners in the 8 to 10 Sep BNB control group (VS and UPONLY, about $1.8M each) were paid in BNC4. Leaving BNC4 out, none of about 30 Flap tokens paying real crypto in that window reached $1M (A).

A.3 The pattern (Q3)

hypothesis verdict evidence
Works only when the payout asset is in its own run (borrowed narrative) The strongest single factor 10 of 13 crypto-paid $10M+ tokens launched into a running asset, as did 3 of the 4 above $25M. ZEC was the only asset in a huge run, and it alone produced a $100M+ token plus a second $25M+ one three weeks later (A)
Works when the token is first in that asset Yes, but first good, not first launched $REDACTED lost to ZCAT, and PIZZA lost to FLORK. In HYPE, NEAR, RAY, TAO and XMR the first reward coin stayed the leader. Copies after the leader almost never worked (A)
Works when the asset has a strong community that adopts the meme Not on its own DOGE: 110 pools, best $1.6M. TRX: 19 pools, none reached $1M, including tokens named after Justin Sun. XMR, a privacy community like ZEC's but flat at the time, gave $2.6M (A)
Needs official affiliation No No endorsement found from Zcash/ECC/Zooko for ZCAT, CZ for BTCB tokens, Justin Sun for TRX, Hyperliquid for PURR or NEAR Foundation for NEARKAT (A on the Zcash search; C on the rest, search only). CZ boosted PALU, but the Flap token paying in PALU peaked at $3.5K (A)
Without the asset running, what caps it? A ceiling of about $10M to $26M, and it needs a different catalyst FLORK had a Binance meme post. BTC, RAYCAT and BUTT rode StonkFun's breakout weeks. None of them reached $50M (A/B)

Swipe the table sideways to see all columns.

Compared with stock payouts: stock payouts produced the two biggest wins, MARSCOIN at $265.5M and 牛来 at $163.3M. Each was first in a brand-new asset class, and Binance then listed them and added a fee share. Neither needed the stock to be running, because owning SpaceX or QQQ on-chain was news in itself. A crypto payout competes with an asset anyone can already buy, so it only reads as new when the asset is in the news that week. That is why crypto payouts need the asset's run and stock payouts needed to be first. The 78 stock-payout copies that launched after MARSCOIN's listing produced one intraday touch of $1.26M (A, MECHANISMS B.2).

The rule, in order of weight: (1) the payout asset is in its own run at launch; (2) our token is the first good mascot in that asset, launched in the first days of the run; (3) the venue turns payouts into holder screenshots (StonkFun, Flap); (4) the meme is recognisable, or is the asset's own mascot (PURR, NEARKAT). An official endorsement was never observed and is not needed.

A.4 Which crypto assets could do this now? (Q4)

Screened on 2026-09-29: CoinGecko's top 250 with 7-day and 30-day changes, the trending list, dated catalysts from Oct 1 to Nov 10, Solana depth, and whether the asset is already claimed. That week BTC was -3.4%, ETH -2.3% and SOL +0.5% (A). No crypto asset today is running, has a strong community, can be routed on Solana and is unclaimed, all at once.

Price impact is an estimate from Jupiter's reported liquidity: Jupiter's quote API failed from this machine. At about $1M of depth, the tax must be swapped in $2K to $5K pieces through the day, not in one go.

Why these three: XMR is the closest match to ZEC: a privacy coin with a hardcore base that has made memes for years, and ZEC's upgrade dates next door. The earlier XMR payout tokens launched while XMR was flat, so the "first while running" slot is still open. XRP has the largest organised retail community in crypto and no real payout token. DOGE has meme-native holders and two venues. What has to be true first: each needs its own run, and none has one today.

The trigger playbook (launch 24 to 48 hours after an asset starts a run):

gate test source
1. Running 7-day return +25% or more CoinGecko markets
2. Unusual 7-day return at least 3 standard deviations above its own last 90 days CoinGecko daily history
3. Volume daily volume at least 2.5x its 90-day median same
4. Its own run 7-day return beats BTC's by 20 points or more (excludes market-wide days) same
5. Attention (any one) on CoinGecko trending, or X mentions over 24 hours at least 3x the 7-day average CoinGecko, fxtwitter
6. Community on our pre-approved list (XMR, XRP, DOGE; second tier LINK, LTC, HBAR, SUI) our list
7. Routable Solana liquidity of $0.5M or more (so a $5K piece moves the price under about 2%), or a Flap quote asset on BNB Jupiter, DexScreener
8. Unclaimed no payout token in that asset above $2M, and none above $0.5M launched in the last 14 days Stonk Board, DexScreener pools by quote

Swipe the table sideways to see all columns.

Fire when gates 1 to 4 pass on a daily close, gate 5 confirms, and gates 6 to 8 pass. Never fire on price alone.

Back-test (CoinGecko daily, A): - ZEC: the trigger fired on 2026-08-22 (7 days +49%, volume 4.9x, 24.7 points ahead of BTC). ZCAT launched 8.5 days later. Watching this rule would have given us a week's head start on ZCAT, though we would have been competing with $REDACTED's revival. - NEAR: it fired the same day NEARKAT launched, which then topped at about $17M. Being on time is necessary, but it is not enough without a big community and a story that runs for weeks. - HYPE (PURR): the BTC test would have said no. PURR is down 82%. - XRP: it fired from Aug 21 to 27, nobody launched, and XRP fell 10.7% within the week. A trigger launch needs an exit and a second-leg plan. - QNT: it fires now, but the routability gate stops it.

Prepared in advance for each asset on the list: 3 name, ticker and mascot options, checked weekly against the claimed list; 20 images and 5 short loops in the community's own in-jokes; the first X post drafted; the venue configuration (quote = the asset's Solana mint, tax, fee authority revoked or multisig, stated up front); pool seeding sized so the tax pieces stay under 2% impact; a Live Receipt page template ready to point at the new token; and a small script (no LLM) that checks the rule daily at 00:15 UTC and on 4-hour closes. We have not built or scheduled that script. It needs your go-ahead.

Part B: the full lifecycle and the second leg

B.1 The sequence, phase by phase (Q5)

Evidence: the 12 timelines in runners/timelines/, plus peak days from runners/census.csv. Of 49 runners with a peak date, 12 peaked on days 0 to 2, 15 on days 3 to 6, 7 on days 7 to 13 and 15 on day 14 or later. The median peak was day 6. Tokens that ran inside 24 hours are now a median 90% below peak, against 74% for tokens that climbed over 1 to 7 days (A).

phase what the runners actually did what drove attention what we do cost (share of budget, estimate) signal to move on
Pre-launch (T-6 weeks to T) 8 of 12 had no X account before the pool. The two with big audiences (LAPTOP 882K, PAID 46K) collapsed. The hook was chosen in advance, not built (A) nothing token-specific; the payout or pair shown in trading apps; a category a listing programme was picking up Launch Readiness Report; hook and second leg written down; supply locks and proofs; pool depth passes the LAPTOP test; named first buyers; connective post pre-written; category heat check; short-form capped as discovery (UK and France excluded) about 35%. Report $5K, package $30K to $50K, legal $5K to $20K (AGENCY-PLAN-v1, B) T-7d gate: liquidity funded 1:1, market maker signed, disclosures in contracts, named buyers declared
Hour 0 to 24 MARSCOIN had 857 buyers in 10 minutes, then sat flat for 18 hours. 牛来 stayed under $70K for 17 hours. PAID was sniped in 124 seconds. BUN round-tripped 82% in hour 1 (A) the tape itself; named traders buying with their own wallets (11 to 50 before $20M on the slow climbers, 37 on PAID) contract address post with lock proofs; one official channel; named buyers on schedule; 24/7 cover; no chasing about 15% 20+ distinct buyers in 10 minutes (catches 85% of Robinhood runners, A); liquidity of $30K or more at 5 minutes; no wallet over 5%; green 12 of 24 hours
Days 1 to 3 MARSCOIN picked for Binance Wallet at T+23.6h ($0.3M to $6.2M). 牛来's trend post at T+17.9h. FLORK +26x in an hour after Binance accounts posted the meme at T+64.8h. FATCOIN -96%, then a second wave. ZCAT's quiet day at $0.9M (A/B) outside catalysts, all after launch; holders posting payout receipts do not buy attention to fix a flat chart; post payout receipts (Live Receipt page); moderate TG; DexScreener and GeckoTerminal profiles (about $4.8K); listing-programme forms; trend watch; T+72h review about 10% a price level held for 24 hours or more, holders growing daily, liquidity at least 1% of market cap, unpaid third-party posts (thresholds are estimates)
Days 3 to 7 ZCAT: "five days of nothing, then a 12x in 30 hours". FLORK: MEXC Meme+, then Binance Alpha. MICRODUCK and JIMOTHY peaked on day 7. Other tokens started pairing against the runners (A) proof already on the chart; KOLs and callers arrive, late (tracked KOL wallets bought MICRODUCK and FATCOIN at $23M to $32M, A) labelled KOL posts and clipping, only now and only as amplifiers of visible proof, paid in cash; exchange sequencing through the market maker; publish the official contract address against copycats about 20%. Posts $500 to $10K each; clipping $1 to $4 per 1,000 views, $5K minimum (B) $20M on float (not FDV). A wall of "from my call" posts is a late-stage sign: slow spending
Days 7 to 14 PAID paid @beffjezos 9 times in public ($9.5M to $48.7M in about 8 hours), then died at day 12 when X Money paused. BUN and MARSCOIN printed $50M (A/B) a planned event the team controlled, or structure (listings, locked float); tokens with attention only faded here fire the second leg booked in advance (B.2); market-maker floors; T+7d catalyst review and T+14d report about 15% a new high on rising volume means extend; volume under 10% of the peak day for 3 days means maintenance mode
Day 14 onward 牛来 Binance Futures on day 16, peak on day 30. BUN's second act on day 22. MARSCOIN Binance spot on day 39. ZCAT's day-18 high came on falling volume (A/B) exchange listings and platform pushes; the holders who stayed were in tokens with automatic payouts or locked supply $5K a month retainer: payout reporting, holder calendar, listing sequencing; no vote or bot campaigns about 5% plus the retainer monthly review

Swipe the table sideways to see all columns.

The budget shares are our estimate. The market norm is 45% pre-launch, 25% launch week and 30% after (rgray via R1, B). We moved weight to days 3 to 14 because that is where the runners took off. Liquidity is a separate line, at least 1:1 with marketing.

Where your model and the timelines disagree: - "Days 1 to 2 are pure mechanism": half right. The mechanism has to be live on day 1, but for the winners days 1 to 2 were flat or falling. The ones that ran on day 1 died fastest. - "Then marketing picks up": the ignition came from outside, after launch, and nobody on the team bought it (Binance Wallet at T+23.6h, one post at T+17.9h, an outsider at T+48.5h). KOLs followed the price rather than leading it. None of the 12 runners had its own TikTok or Instagram channel that drove anything. The two short-form links (牛来 on Douyin, JIMOTHY on Instagram) were trends made by strangers. - "Then the second leg": for MARSCOIN, 牛来, FATCOIN and FLORK, the days 1 to 3 move was really their first leg. True second legs came on day 10 (PAID), day 22 (BUN) and day 39 (MARSCOIN spot), and only tokens with structure behind them got one.

What this changes about KOLs: KOLs move from launch-hour engine to a days 3 to 7 amplifier of visible proof, paid in cash and labelled. Launch-hour money goes to liquidity and to named traders buying with their own wallets. If a KOL buys late, our monitor treats it as a sign to exit, not a win. The 牛来 file shows the harm: a dozen paid Chinese accounts pushed a copycat contract during the breakout (A on the observation).

B.2 Second-leg options other than Binance spot (Q6)

Measured lifts (CoinGecko hourly market cap, A): most listing jumps were +50% to +125%, peaking within 1 to 5 days. The ones still up after 30 days either stacked a second listing on top (牛来: Alpha, then Futures, +205% at 30 days) or had a payout underneath (MARSCOIN, 牛来). Tokens lifted by a CZ post with no mechanism gave back 73% to 84% of their peak (MUBARAK, BROCCOLI).

rank option best example (ticker, date, lift, how long) cost difficulty control recommendation
1 Binance Wallet, Alpha and Futures ladder (not spot) 牛来 Alpha 2026-08-18: +107% at +71h, +13% at 7 days, then held once Futures was added (+46% in 7.5h). MARSCOIN Wallet then Alpha: $0.3M to $42M in 3 days (A) no published fee (C); needs a BNB/Flap token that fits the category high low to medium: we control the fit, not the decision The main target for BNB launches. 2 Public payout event on a date we set (big airdrop day, prize-pot reveal, tax end date, public payouts to named accounts) PAID 2026-09-25: +413% in about 8h; lasted about 2 days, until X Money paused (A) about $0 extra; the fees already exist low high Use for every launch, on the calendar for days 7 to 14, paid on-chain, never through a service someone else can switch off
3 Trend posts written in advance 牛来 at T+17.9h after 17 dead hours; JIMOTHY's raccoon news (A/B) about $0 medium (timing) medium keep 3 to 5 connective posts ready, watch trends daily
4 Become a quote asset / cross-pair ZCAT became the quote asset for 6+ tokens by day 13; PAID got STONK/PAID, e/acc/PAID and PAID/ZEC pools (A); no separate lift measured $5K to $20K per pool (estimate) low to medium medium seed 1 or 2 pools with communities that fit, and give the other side a fee share (B.3)
5 Big figure joins (organic) MUBARAK after CZ's public buy (2025-03-16): peak $166M, -76% by 14 days. BROCCOLI -73% by 7 days (A) cannot be bought very high low be ready, never pay; it only holds with a mechanism underneath
6 US retail venue (Coinbase roadmap, Binance.US, Robinhood) TOSHI 2025-01-15: +63% at +117h. TROLL on Binance.US 2026-01-22: +69%, but -40% at 1 day (A) free to millions (disputed, B) very high low only for Base-native or US-clean IP
7 Payout asset upgrade (add a newer, never-used asset mid-life) no 2025 to 2026 example found swap routing only low high run it as the content of option 2 ("now also paying X"), clearly labelled an experiment. The asset watch in A.4 tells us which one
8 Tier-2 exchanges (MEXC, Gate, Bitget, LBank, KuCoin, HTX) FLORK MEXC Meme+ 09-02 at about $9M, 11h before Alpha. ZCAT got four after its peak, with no separate lift (A) $30K to $375K including tokens (C, vendor quotes) low to medium high if paid do not pay before $20M; take the free listings runners get
9 Perps (Hyperliquid, Aster, Binance Futures) 牛来 Futures +46% in 7.5h; MemeCore on Aster +5% to 9% (A/B) $0 (the exchange decides) up to a 500,000 HYPE stake (about $43M) for Hyperliquid's self-listed markets (A) high low comes after spot depth; do not chase

What listings cost in 2026 (vendor quotes are grade C; treat them as asking prices): Binance spot about $1.5M, or $2M with market making (tokpie, Apr 2026), while Binance, Justin Sun and Andre Cronje say it is $0 (The Block 2024, B). Bybit $50K plus $100K in tokens. Gate 130K USDT plus $100K in tokens. Bitget 175K USDT plus 150K USDT in tokens. KuCoin from 150K USDT. HTX from 30K USDT plus $100K in tokens. MEXC 10K USDT plus $50K in tokens, or $40K to $80K. OKX, Upbit and Coinbase: not published. Reachable for a $5M to $50M meme: all the tier-2 exchanges and Binance Wallet/Alpha if the category fits. Runners got MEXC, Gate and LBank without any known payment (FLORK, ZCAT, A on presence). Paying in token supply is the worst option, because those tokens get sold.

B.3 Partnerships and big accounts without it looking paid (Q7)

Approaches, from cleanest to least clean: 1. Make them a real beneficiary, with consent. Send a share of fees on-chain to a wallet the account publicly controls, or to a charity it names. Pay only after they opt in, and publish the transaction hashes. PAID's version paid accounts without asking. X said on 2026-02-14 that it intends to block fee pools tied to someone's handle without consent (A, X post via the short-form report). 2. Pay their community, not the influencer. Airdrop a slice of tax revenue to the partner coin's holders, or buy the partner coin as the payout asset, as ZCAT did with ZEC. Their holders become our beneficiaries, and nobody is paid to talk. Check the other side's reaction first: a "tribute" token they did not want can read as taking value from them. 3. Give the bigger project a structural reason: a fixed on-chain fee share to its treasury, or a joint pool whose trading fees go to its treasury. Both sides post publicly who pays whom. 4. If a person is paid to post, label it: X's Paid Partnership label (live since 2026-03-01, crypto allowed if labelled), "ad" in text and speech, paid in cash, never tokens, and a public list of paid accounts on the site. 5. Never: unlabelled KOL rounds, token allocations to promoters, bought posts dressed up as organic, creators in France, or posts aimed at the UK.

Disclosure rules we follow: - US FTC endorsement guides (16 CFR 255): disclose any material connection, including tokens, on screen and spoken in video. - EU MiCA Art. 91(3)(c): giving an opinion on a token you hold without disclosing it is market manipulation. - UK FCA FG24/1: crypto promotions need an approved route, and the guidance names memes, so we geo-exclude the UK. - France: since 2026-07-01, only MiCA-authorised firms may be promoted, so no French creators. - X: the paid label is mandatory.

(A/B, from shortform-2026-09-29/REPORT.md and research/R2-LEGAL-STRUCTURE.md.)

Failure cases: - 牛来, 2026-08-15: a paid round pushed a copycat contract during the breakout (A). - ZachXBT leak, 2025-09: fewer than 5 of 160+ paid influencers disclosed (B). - CryptoKemal, 2026-09-17: admitted selling a token allocation from an ad deal (A). - LAB, 2026: KOLs were paid in tokens at an 80% discount, and the token fell 72% (B). - LIBRA / Milei: a court found a draft $5M promotion deal; a RICO case is pending (B/A). - HAWK: the promoter was named as a defendant (B). - Pump.fun: RICO claims survive against 25 unnamed KOLs (B). - Iggy Azalea (MOTHER): sued in May 2026 (B). - PAID: its payments ran through a service someone else controlled, and they stopped when X Money paused (A).

Risk. The two paths you like best, a big account joining and a partner coin adopting us, are the same two paths that plaintiffs and regulators now read as a paid scheme. The promoter gets named in the lawsuit (HAWK, LIBRA, the Pump.fun KOLs), and the paper trail comes out months later (ZachXBT's leak, the LIBRA court drafts). The defensible version has three properties: - every payment is on-chain, consented to and published when it happens; - the benefit goes to a community or treasury, not to a person's private holdings; - anything paid is labelled, and nobody is paid in the token.

That gives up some of the "it looked organic" effect, but it cannot blow up in a court case. The bigger business risk is decay, not law: every attention leg we measured gave back most of its lift within 1 to 2 weeks unless a mechanism or another exchange listing held it up. Spend on the mechanism first, and treat attention as the spark.
